Laser Cutter Class
What is it?
A class on how to use the laser cutter at NSL to make fun toys, engravings, and general shenanigans. We'll cover using Inkscape to make 2D vector art which can be CNCd by the laser cutter. The Inkscape portion of the class is 100% transferrable to the vinyl cutter at NSL, too.
For those who want to get ahead of the class: to laser
Class will be taught by Datagram. Yeah, that asshole.
When is it?
Friday, April 26, 2013 @ 20:30.
What do I need to bring?
Yourself, a laptop with Inkscape installed, and a sheet of acrylic to cut. If you don't want to get a sheet of acrylic beforehand DG will be selling some; proceeds go to NSL. (They will probably cost $10-15)
Install Inkscape BEFORE THE CLASS. We are not waiting for you. Inkscape is free and works on all modern operating systems (BeOS not supported, sorry Skroo).
Does it cost money?
The class is FREE, but it would be awesome if you could donate $20 to Null Space Labs for more food, drinks, and toys. The sexy kind. Continued use of the laser cutter at NSL requires a NSL membership.
How can I help?
The class is self-sufficient but NSL can use the following:
- Acrylic sheets (not lexan/polycarbinate) $4-12 at home depot
- <5mm ply or mdf sheets
- Materials rack
- Compact computer stand
