I found i had to short jumper b in order to get this to actually talk to the atmega168 I had lying around the garage.

also for mac folks, cross pack seems to be a good bundle for grabbing necessary tools. Its also nice that the mac doesnt involve a driver that requires booting with driver signing off as win 7 64 does.
